Best Top Foods You Must Try in Brazil
- Feijoada
- A Brazilian stew of black beans with pork or other meats and vegetables, served with rice. Feijoada is a heavy dish so I totally recommend you to have it together with a caipirinha to cool your diggestion down.
- Acarajé
- They are a popular street food and beach snack. They were introduced to Bahia by slaves who came from Nigeria during the colonial period. In Nigeria, acarajé is named Akara. It is made from peeled beans shaped into a ball and then deep-fried in dendê (palm oil)
- Açaí
- A small, dark purple, berrylike fruit with a juicy pulp that is often used in beverages, eaten raw or eaten with condensed milk and fruits like banana and strawberries. It is just delicious and healthy :)
- Caipirinha
- It is brazil's national and most famous cocktail, made with cachaça (sugarcane liquor), sugar and lime. In Brazil you can have it with all kind of fruits, and even with vodka, instead of cachaça (if you don't want vodka make sure to let your waiter know you want it with cachaça, it is really not implied by default). Foreigners might feel we add way too much sugar, but this is how the authentic flavour that we love is.
- Brigadeiro
- They are a traditional Brazilian candy to eat with one bite. They are made from sweetened condensed milk and chocolate, cooked until it has a golden brown color. Some people call it Brazilian Fudge and/or Brazilian Truffle, either way, we all agree that is the most popular and delicious of sweet treats in Brazil. You will always find it at parties or birthdays.
- Moqueca
- Moqueca is a brazilian vibrant and fullfilling recipe based on salt water fish stew, tomatoes, onions, garlic and coriander. The best moqueca is the the Moqueca “Baiana" (called like this because it can be found in the Bahia Region, and of course, all around Salvador)
- Queijo Coalho
- Queijo Coalho is a firm but very lightweight cheese produced in Northeastern Brazil, with an almost "squeaky" texture. Very easy to find on brazilian beaches, where it is consider an essential street snack. Let's be honest, all food that comes on a stick is usually awesome!
